As graduates prepare for Cleveland State University’s first virtual commencement ceremony, the staff of Health and Wellness Services plan on how to best assist students and staff medical needs for the rest of this semester and beyond.
Health and Wellness Services Director Eileen Guttman said students can still use the services offered by the center without having to be on campus.
“CSU Health & Wellness Services is providing tele-health services for the CSU community at no out-of-pocket cost,” she said. “We are answering health and medical questions along with questions about student health insurance and referring individuals to appropriate care providers as needed. Additionally, we are providing Wellness Services such as group or individual health counseling on various topics.”
Guttman said students seeking a tele-health appointment can call at 216.687.3649 between 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
While the move to remote services has been a difficult at times, many patients have been able to receive quality support, Guttman said.
“The transition has made it a little more challenging, but we have adapted to continue to provide the best support for our clients,” she said. “Those patients who we’ve been in contact with have been happy with and grateful for our services.”
There is no set date for reopening of Health and Wellness Services with a goal for the “near future” in place, Guttman said.
When asked if any new policies or practices would be instituted once the campus was open again, Guttman outlined the plan for the health center.
“The university is working on a comprehensive phased return to campus plan that addresses this question,” she said. “Specifically for the Health Center, all patients will be seen by appointment. Social distancing will apply and best medical practices will be followed. Since our facility has a lower patient volume than most other health centers, it should be one of the safest places for our students to access care.”
